We believe in putting your
mental health first

Hi, I’m Stephanie

My name is Stephanie Severino. I’m a therapist and a Registered Social Worker. I started New Lens Therapy (NLT) because I wanted to create a therapy practice that prioritizes ethical practice, therapist integrity, and helping clients understand themselves a little better. I am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. I draw on techniques and strategies from each of these therapy modalities depending on the presenting concerns of each client, to ensure that my approach is catered to each client’s specific needs.

Life can be challenging and fulfilling, stressful and joyful, difficult and happy. I want to help support clients in coping with the hard times and thriving in the positive times.

With New Lens Therapy, my goal is to create a safe and supportive space for clients to explore complex emotions, build goals, and work toward mental wellbeing.

I use my sense of humour in my therapy practice, and I am authentically myself with clients. If you book a consultation with me and I’m not the right fit for you or vice versa, that is absolutely okay, and I will do what I can to refer you to another clinician.

I enjoy being in nature, spending time with my husband and my dog, reading, baking, and exploring.

An honest approach to therapy

We virtually serve clients who reside in Ontario with the goal of helping individuals and couples prioritize their emotional and mental well-being.

When you’re ready to see a therapist, we offer a free 15-minute video consultation to make sure that our NLT therapist is the right fit for your needs by getting to know you and what you’re looking for from therapy. You wouldn’t want to befriend every stranger you meet, just like you wouldn’t want every therapist to be YOUR therapist. This is why the beginning of the therapy process is to assess for fit, as the relationship you have with your therapist is very important to your therapy outcomes. Your wellbeing is most important.

What does therapy look like?

The truth is that therapy looks a little different for every client. Multiple therapeutic techniques and styles are utilized to meet the needs of each client, depending on what you’re looking for, and what you’re struggling with.

Therapy sessions follow the “therapy hour”, meaning that 10 minutes are left at the end of each session length for clinicians to complete documentation and session planning. At NLT we offer 60 minute and 90 minute session types, so your video call will last 50 minutes or 80 minutes respectively. The remaining 10 minutes of each session type is spent focused on your file.
