Welcome to New Lens Therapy (NLT)

We provide therapy services to individuals and couples in need of support. Our vision is to help people live the lives they want, and to improve mental wellness. We work with residents of Ontario, providing virtual telehealth therapy services across the province to support clients in focusing on what’s important to them, and to offer different perspectives, to share a new lens on mental health.

What is therapy?

Therapy can be different for everyone. It involves a process of assessing your needs, developing goals, and working towards achieving them. Depending on what you’re looking for, therapy can include: learning new skills, practicing helpful and effective coping mechanisms, self-reflection, as well as building a safe, non-judgemental space for processing complex emotions.

Reaching out is a big first step

It can be a very intimidating process to seek out a therapist. At New Lens, we appreciate how taxing this process can be and we honour the steps you’ve taken to get here. Prioritizing your mental health can be hard, and it can change your life for the better. You’re worth it.

We can help.

And so can you. Therapy relies on both the therapist and the client to work collaboratively together to develop treatment plans and goals, and improve mental wellbeing. Therapy is about providing the safe space for the client, while also gently encouraging changes for the client to consider making. Your therapist will ensure that your priorities and values are the main focus, and will work with you to recognize and shift unhelpful patterns and thinking styles.

At New Lens Therapy we prioritize integrity and ethical practice. The needs of our clients are our top priority and we will never hesitate to recognize if your needs are beyond the scope of our practice, to ensure you receive the best care possible.

How can therapy help?

  • Therapy can help identify unproductive thinking patterns, challenge your anxiety, and help you learn healthy and effective coping skills to minimize the impact anxiety has on your life.

  • Depression and low mood can be very difficult to live with. Therapy can help you to process and work through past hurts, learn skills to combat depression and help you to regain some joy in your life.

  • Change is hard for the majority of people, and can bring about many complex emotions. Therapy can support you with identifying where your concerns are coming from, and what you can do to cope with big life transitions.

  • Whether you’re struggling with a romantic relationship or with platonic or familial relationships, therapy can help you to communicate with the people you care about in a more productive and constructive way.

  • Romantic relationships can be incredibly fulfilling and incredibly challenging. Couples therapy can help support both members of the couple to identify areas of concern and areas of strength, and work together to improve communication, increase intimacy, and foster the fun in the relationship.

Virtual therapy has been shown to be as effective as therapy services provided in person. We offer virtual therapy as a way to accommodate more clients, and create better access to mental health services.
